Board-certified in nephrology and internal medicine
Dr. Allan D. Lauer is recognized as a leader in the field of nephrology in southeastern Massachusetts. As a member of Associates in Nephrology for more than 35 years, he was instrumental in introducing dialysis therapy to many of the area hospitals. He is currently the medical director for Brockton Regional Kidney Center and Taunton Regional Dialysis Center.
He has a special interest in diagnosing and treating:
- Acute and chronic kidney disease
- End-stage renal disease
- Cystic disease of the kidney
- Glomerular diseases and glomerulonephritis
- Tubulointerstitial disease of the kidney
- Acid-base disturbances
- Fluid and electrolyte disorders
- Kidney disease associated with pregnancy
- Hereditary kidney disease
- Connective tissue diseases that affect the kidney
Dr. Lauer completed his undergraduate education at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, and graduated from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He completed his residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, and his nephrology fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.
He received his board certification in nephrology and internal medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Lauer is an instructor in medicine at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
Prior to joining Associates in Nephrology, Dr. Lauer held faculty appointments in the Division of Nephrology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Dr. Lauer is a co-author of 12 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious medical journals regarding end-stage renal disease, renal replacement therapy, and chronic renal failure. He is committed to ensuring that his patients receive the best medical care possible.
